17 Months and enjoying the holiday season...

Daddy took the girls out on their first sled ride right before Christmas and they had a blast! Luckily, we are in the midst of another snow storm now so there will be more opportunity for sled rides and building a real snowman! The girls have been in love with Frosty the Snowman and love the song to be sung to them. They are now old enough to realize that Christmas is something special and they have enjoyed all of our festive decorations. Maia even puckers up when we stand under the mistletoe!

Maia just loves to try on our hats, gloves, scarves and shoes. Looks like it may be time for dress up clothes soon! They are really trying to talk and attempting lots of words. Maia says, "Baby", "Knee", "Cheese" and "Cal Cal" among others. Callie says, "Book", "Ball", "Blue", and "Mai"- for Maia. We can't wait for the language to come so we can try not to laugh at all the funny things I am sure they will say!

Christmas morning, opening presents with Two Papas (my dad), Grandma and Granddad (Jason's parents). Callie and Maia are very interested in letters and can identify and make the sounds of several. Santa got them several letter-themed gifts including these letter shaped books (in the picture), their names in a puzzle and their name trains. How did Santa know these would be a hit? The girls have been truly appreciating all of their gifts as we have been stuck inside a lot lately. I just had gum graft surgery done and it has been quite painful so we haven't gone out much. Jason has been incredible, holding down the fort. Not only has he been doing part of the care-taking of the girls and our cats, he has also been taking great care of me! He said to me today that during this vacation he has learned something very important. That he has a new appreciation for how difficult it can be taking care of toddlers all day. WOW! It is great to have my hard work acknowledged and appreciated - not that it wasn't before, but he has truly experienced first hand how exhausting it is!

With exhaustion comes the fun however and these are some shots of the girls being silly.

Daddy brought this wonderful treat home from the grocery store!

Callia accidentally wound up with pasta on her head.

And the next thing you know, Maia "Accidentally On Purpose" ended up with one there too.
